Don’t Listen to Rumors. Here are the Facts.
If You Are in Treatment for Substance Use Disorder (SUD), Your Eligibility for Medicaid Has Not Changed.
You may have heard about changes to Medicaid eligibility. While many people are being re-evaluated, individuals in addiction treatment may still qualify and are often protected from new work requirements.
- STAY IN TREATMENT. In most states, people in addiction treatment don’t have to worry about Medicaid work requirements. Staying in treatment can actually help you keep your Medicaid coverage. Make sure you keep your information current with us or whomever is providing your care.
- NEED MEDICAID? WE CAN HELP YOU APPLY. If you don’t have Medicaid but think you might qualify, CleanSlate can help you sign up. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, even if you’re worried about paying.
- SHARE THIS WITH THOSE WHO NEED HELP. If you have questions, talk to your care team. Don’t be scared to continue treatment! It can be the best way to keep your Medicaid. If you know someone who’s afraid to start treatment because of this news, let them know CleanSlate will help with both recovery and Medicaid.

CleanSlate Patients Are Not Subject to Work Requirements In Order to be Eligible for Medicaid

On July 4, 2025, President Trump signed into law several major changes to Medicaid. According to this law, starting no later than December 31, 2026, states will impose a mandatory 80-hour per month work requirement for Medicaid recipients. But CleanSlate patients are NOT subject to this work requirement in order to maintain their eligibility for Medicaid coverage.
We know rumors about Medicaid policy changes can feel unsettling. Rest assured, you can continue accessing our outpatient addiction treatment services, including buprenorphine (Suboxone), naltrexone (Vivitrol), and personalized counseling.
