Wisconsin Team Participates in Recovery Alignment Day at Capitol
Apr 26, 2019
Earlier this month, members from our Wisconsin team attended the first annual Recovery Alignment Day in the Wisconsin Capitol. The team spoke with individuals from across Wisconsin along with students from University of Wisconsin Madison. This was an opportunity to build connections and educate the community in the fight against the opioid epidemic.
The event was hosted by Wisconsin Voices for Recovery and brought together community stakeholders from around the stage in order to align on supporting substance recovery services in Wisconsin.
The event featured resource tables, speakers in recovery, members of Wisconsin Voices for Recovery and our WI CleanSlate team helping educate how CleanSlate can help those in recovery. The day was focused on advocating for recovery support services including recovery housing, recovery coaching, employment support, and community recovery supports, along with other priorities.
Jessica Geschke, from Wisconsin Voices for Recovery reflected on the first annual event with a message to all who participated: “Last year when I began tossing the idea around of a “recovery advocacy day” I never dreamed that day would turn into the amazing success that we all shared. April 3, 2019 was a great day for the State of Wisconsin and those living here who are fighting this fight against substance abuse on a daily basis. I have never been more proud to be a recovery advocate. I stand strong with each of you as we continue to push forward and move mountains.”
