State Representative Aaron Vega Visits CleanSlate Center in Holyoke, Massachusetts
Oct 8, 2019
State Representative Aaron Vega recently toured the CleanSlate center in Holyoke to learn more about the lifesaving addiction treatment services provided to hundreds of patients. During his visit, Rep. Vega met with several members of the CleanSlate team to discuss the alarming rate of opioid related deaths and what can be done to expand treatment options for those in need.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health estimates there have been more than 900 deaths related to opioid use so far in 2019. Over the past eight years, Hampden County had the eighth highest rate of opioid-related overdose deaths in the state.
?Massachusetts continues to rank in the top 10 states with the highest rates of opioid-related overdoses and it is heartbreaking,? said Linda Santaniello, center manager for CleanSlate Holyoke. We appreciated Rep. Vega’s interest in learning how CleanSlate is using medication-assisted treatment to improve outcomes for patients suffering from opioid use disorder.
