The CleanSlate Philadelphia – Memphis Street team came together last week for a great cause to host a holiday wrapping party for the Angels in Motion annual toy drive.

Angels in Motion started with one woman?s efforts to rescue her child from the disease of addiction. While searching the streets of Kensington (a neighborhood in Philadelphia), for her son, Carol Rostucher saw that many other children and loved ones were suffering and lost as well.

Carol began to open her heart to the streets and spread her love where it was needed the most. Her efforts included treating each person as an individual and offering her genuine compassion and understanding, and providing ?blessing bags? which contain food, snacks, clothing, hygiene products and resource information to obtain help when they are ready.

The CleanSlate – Memphis Street center routinely works with the Angels in Motion program to help those struggling with addiction on the streets of Philadelphia.

“The gifts will be going to residents of the Kensington community at this coming Saturday?s annual community holiday celebration organized by Angels in Motion,” said Center Manager Brooke Feldman. “Memphis Street staff will also be at the community holiday celebration representing CleanSlate. While Angels in Motion focuses on supporting people struggling with homelessness and addiction in Kensington (as do we), this toy drive is a way to give back to the larger community that is impacted by the complex conditions in Kensington.”
