Warriors for Hope,

Employers generally calculate employees? salaries, contributions and deductions based on a standard 52-week calendar year. While February typically has 28 days, in leap years ? such as 2020 ? a 29th day appears. The extra day may result in one more payday than normal in the calendar year depending on when and how employees are scheduled and paid.

Leap YearDue to the 2020 Leap Year, all employees will get pay one extra pay check (27 total) instead of 26 for a non-leap year.  The extra paycheck will be issued on December 31, 2020 (Click to download the 2020 Payroll Schedule).

  • Hourly employees:  receive pay for hours worked beginning 12/14/2020 and ending 12/27/2020.
  • Salaried employees:  receive pay for regular amount for 26 paychecks based on annual salary and the same biweekly amount for the extra paycheck (27th) with the same beginning and ending dates as hourly employees.
  • Benefits deductions: will not be deducted on the 27th paycheck except for garnishments and 401K contribution. This applies to all employees.

Employees are encouraged to review their pay vouchers and make necessary adjustments needed, when this change occurs.
