In Greenwood, Indiana, Addiction Treatment Leaders CleanSlate and Valle Vista Health System Create Campus Style of Care
May 7, 2019
As with so much of the country, the toll of the opioid epidemic in Greenwood, Indiana is outpacing the number of high-quality medication-assisted treatment (MAT) providers who are available to treat patients suffering from addiction.
Johnson County ranks 13th among counties in Indiana for opioid overdoses, and Greenwood is the largest city in the county. But MAT treatment has lagged, with limited providers in the area forcing many patients to travel long distances. Many of the providers in the market who do prescribe buprenorphine and naltrexone operate substandard practices and accept cash only.
That’s why CleanSlate is proud to join forces with Valle Vista Health System to integrate medication treatment with mental health and addiction treatment services for residents of Greenwood and the surrounding areas. The new center is located on the Valle Vista campus at 65 Airport Parkway in Greenwood.
One of our guiding mantras is: Together we succeed, said Anthony Belott, CleanSlate’s Chief Development Officer. CleanSlate’s new partnership with Valle Vista embodies that promise to battle the disease of addiction. Our collaboration offers a campus style of care that expands the services of both Valle Vista and CleanSlate and makes it easy for patients to access anything they might need along the continuum of care for recovery.”
Helping patients transition through recovery
Fifty percent of Valle Vista’s inpatient population has a primary diagnosis of Substance Use Disorder (SUD). By locating on the site of Valle Vista itself, patients will be provided direct access to MAT as they are discharged from Valle Vista.
Further benefiting patients, the integration of CleanSlate programming allows for SUD assessment and coordination of treatment throughout each patient’s path of care at Valle Vista. In addition, Valle Vista’s counseling and IOP services will be immediately and conveniently available to CleanSlate patients needing additional behavioral health services.
“Providing patients the full continuum of care continues to be the mission for Valle Vista Health System,” said Kristin Fettig, Director of Business Development for Valle Vista Health System. “With the addition of CleanSlate to the Valle Vista campus, we are helping to make the transition from inpatient to those needing MAT a much easier process, providing best practice care for the patients we serve.”

A natural partnership
Valle Vista Health System has been a leading provider of mental health and addictions treatment in Greenwood for 30 years. Its mental health facility offers a full continuum of care, including day or evening outpatient services, intensive outpatient services, partial hospitalization, residential treatment for adolescent girls, and acute inpatient services.
While Valle Vista’s sister company in Greenwood, New Vista Outpatient Recovery Center, offers methadone and outpatient treatment services, the Valle Vista campus itself hasn’t offered an office-based outpatient program for MAT.
CleanSlate, a leading national provider of outpatient MAT, is a natural partner for Valle Vista, complementing Valle Vista’s existing mental health and addiction treatment services. By operating on the Valle Vista campus, CleanSlate will reduce time to treatment and improve the coordination of care for substance use disorder patients not only within the Valle Vista system, but also from the local community.
This marks CleanSlate’s sixteenth center in Indiana and its 63rd across the country. The company’s program of care includes appropriate medication-assisted treatment prescribed by licensed medical providers, as well as clear accountability, supportive counseling, and care coordination. CleanSlate participates in-network with most Medicaid and commercial providers in the state of Indiana so that patients can be treated with minimal or no financial burden.
