Hope for Montgomery County: CleanSlate Opens Center in East Dayton, OH
Aug 28, 2019
Accidental drug poisoning became Ohio’s leading cause of death in 2007, claiming more lives than motor vehicle crashes for the first time in the state’s history. Years later, this trend has continued. Ohio has the second highest rate of drug overdose deaths involving opioids in the nation, nearly triple the national average.
But in 2018, accidental overdose deaths declined: The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates Ohio’s 2018 overdose deaths at 4,002, down 22% from the year prior.*
While the decrease in overdose deaths is encouraging, there is still work to do. In response to the epidemic, CleanSlate recently opened its newest center in Dayton. The East Dayton center is the sixth CleanSlate location in the state of Ohio.
“We’re happy to see overdose deaths declining in Ohio, but the fight isn’t over yet,” said Nikki Nemeth, center manager for CleanSlate’s new East Dayton center. “There are still Ohioans battling addiction who need care and our newest center is ready meet them where they are on their journey to recovery.”
“Patients deserve affordable, quality care that meets their needs,” said Cory McConnell, director of business development for CleanSlate. “They need to know they’re not alone in this fight; addiction is a disease that can be treated and we’re with them every step of the way. We’re very gratified to have the opportunity to bring CleanSlate’s proven model of life-saving treatment to Dayton and to have the opportunity to work closely with community partners to help patients reclaim their lives.”
CleanSlate was founded in 2009 in response to the country’s growing opioid epidemic.
