Excellence in Action
Jul 31, 2023
CleanSlate’s Excellence in Action award is nomination-based recognition program that recognizes and celebrates our support team across the entire enterprise. Winners are selected from nominees that demonstrate our values of patients first; science and medicine matter; everyday innovation; respect and compassion always; and together we succeed.
Congratulations to our Spring 2023 winners!
Carol Mateo
Lab Assistant, Holyoke, MA
“She exemplifies our value “together we succeed.” She is in training most of the day, learning new processes, yet she offers her help with day-end assignments without being asked to. She just jumps in and finishes whatever is needed. She has helped out like this continuously, tirelessly, and with a smile. She always shows how much she cares about the team’s success.”
“She shows care and great interest in what she does. Carol is always focused and goes above and beyond what is expected of her in her recent role. She is always ready to step in and help others as soon as she completes her assignments.”
Jamie Grall
Medical Receptionist, Waukesha, WI
“Jamie goes above and beyond to be inviting, supportive, and helpful to all patients and coworkers. She has sat with nervous patients and talked to them, held their hand while they were getting an injection of Vivitrol or Sublocade, and helped with paperwork. She even created a New Patient paperwork example book for our lobby so patients can refer to it. She has called patients just to check in, whether they have been coming here for a while or are brand new. Her compassion for other people is extraordinary, and so is her dedication to keeping things fun, from the NAMI fundraiser walk to the homemade little stuffed gnomes we have all over. Things like this help patients move forward and not focus on their past. She is patient and kind, and gives excellent instruction and feedback.”
Heather Berry
Medical Assistant, Williamsport, PA
“Heather Berry has been an MA in the Williamsport office for over four years and is the heart of our center. She starts our day with a morning huddle to get us all on the same page and throws in fun facts. For example, she told us it was national pizza day, so she bought everyone pizza for lunch! In addition, Heather makes sure everyone has a gift and is celebrated on their birthday. She got art supplies to make a board of encouraging words for patients on our cabinets in the waiting area. And if all that isn’t enough, she cleans whenever she has downtime! Most importantly, Heather works relentlessly at prior authorizations, scheduling, inventory, and all aspects of her job that allow the Williamsport office to provide exceptional care. She deserves recognition and celebration.”
Marquetta Turman
Medical Receptionist, Indianapolis, IN
“Marquetta has a very welcoming, friendly, and warm demeanor that our patients, visitors, and staff all respond to. Her addition to our team has improved morale as she has gotten everyone involved in participating in monthly pitch-ins and event planning. Marquetta has learned the ins and outs of running the front office rapidly and has taken it upon herself to track patients with presumptive Medicaid eligibility so she can follow up on approvals and get their MCOs changed. She also talks to patients about the hardship applications and communicates regularly with our billing and eligibility departments on behalf of patients. Recently, a patient came in asking for proof of treatment to show someone with a housing assistance program. The patient’s interview was that afternoon, so there was not time to get a treatment letter approved. Knowing this, Marquetta found a solution for the patient and had the patient sign an ROI for the apartment complex to ensure the patient’s confidentiality was protected. As a result, the patient was approved for an apartment! She said that the agency would have turned her down due to her previous addiction history without having proof of treatment. She is tremendously grateful for the efforts of our staff, particularly Marquetta, to help her get back on her feet and start a new life with her son.”
