CleanSlate Opens Addiction Treatment Center in West Indianapolis to Help City Build on Progress with Overdose Revival, Improve Rates of Recovery
Dec 19, 2018
Plainfield, IN – CleanSlate Centers, a national leader in outpatient addiction medicine, is opening its third Indianapolis treatment center for opioid and alcohol addictions, marking the company’s 14th outpatient center in the state. Located at 2455 E. Main St, Suite 194, in the West Indianapolis area of Plainfield, the new center opens its doors to patients tomorrow.
The West Indianapolis location will address the needs of an underserved area suffering from a shortage of treatment providers, especially providers of medication-assisted treatment (MAT). The company participates in-network with most Medicaid and commercial providers in the state of Indiana so that patients can be treated with minimal or no financial burden.
“We have patients at our other Indianapolis centers who are traveling across the city from the Plainfield area,” said Rachael Thompson, CleanSlate’s Regional Director of Operations for Indiana and Kentucky. “While a same-city commute may not seem like a big deal, traveling 30 minutes or more for appointments creates a burden that can mean the difference between life and death. We have seen time and again that patients have a much better chance of achieving and maintaining recovery when treatment is available in their own backyards.”
Revival isn’t the end point
The state of Indiana has invested considerable focus and resources on combating the opioid epidemic, and there are signs of success in this fight. Recently, the state noted that overdose deaths are on the decline. While the news is encouraging, CleanSlate leaders in Indiana have observed that there’s more to consider with this progress.
“The decrease in overdose deaths can be traced to the widespread distribution of [overdose reversal drug] Narcan,” said Ned Pucek, Western Divisional President of Operations for CleanSlate. “This is to be applauded. But the problem is that people are getting revived in the comfort of their own home. Many overdoses aren’t even getting reported. Without any intervention from first responders, the ER, or the criminal justice system, many people who survive overdoses aren’t being encouraged to find treatment, and so the cycle repeats itself.”
“Certainly, harm reduction is important,” said Thompson. “You can’t treat people if they’re not alive. But we have to continue to educate people that Narcan is not treatment. Revival is not recovery. It should be the last-ditch launch pad that gets people to find long-term treatment for their disease.”
CleanSlate leaders are working closely with community stakeholders in Indianapolis who agree that it’s a mistake to be lulled into a false sense of security that opioid addiction is on the wane.
“This is why we’re continuing to open centers throughout the state and across the country,” said Pucek. “Despite the drop in overdose deaths, we know that the need for our life-saving services is more urgent than ever. After people are revived, they need to be able to look down the street and find the help they need in their own community.”

CleanSlate’s Plainfield office occupies the former building housed by Indiana University Health Urgent Care. “Our location is recognized as a bit of a landmark on Main Street,” said Kristinia Love, Center Manager for CleanSlate in Plainfield. “We want to make it easy for patients to find us and feel comfortable that we’re a convenient member of their neighborhood.”
