CLEANSLATE RESPONDS TO OPIOID EPIDEMIC, OPENS NEW LOCATION IN HOLYOKE
HOLYOKE, MA – Western Massachusetts-based CleanSlate Centers plans to open a new practice location at 384 High Street in Holyoke, in the space formerly occupied by Providence Prenatal Center of Holyoke. CleanSlate has three other locations in Greenfield, West Springfield, and New Bedford, Massachusetts, and will start seeing patients in the High Street location on Monday, April 2.
CleanSlate Centers is a collection of outpatient addiction treatment centers specializing in the treatment of opioid dependence using Suboxone (buprenorphine) and Vivitrol (naltrexone). For patients with other substance use issues we provide additional adjunctive evidence-based treatments.
CleanSlate’s office-based opioid treatment programs were recognized for their innovation and effectiveness and awarded the 2012 Science and Service Award for Office-based Opioid Treatment Programs by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA).
According to a study released in 2011 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 12 million American teens and adults reported nonmedical use of prescription pain medication within the past year in 2010, resulting in nearly 15 thousand overdose deaths that year (an average of forty every day). This staggering figure has tripled since 1999 and is now responsible for more fatalities than heroin and cocaine combined.
Massachusetts has felt the impact of this epidemic particulary hard with an increase in Oxycontin addiction by nearly 1,000 percent over the past ten years. More than 3,200 Massachusetts residents died of opiate-related overdose between 2002 and 2007 alone, and that trend continues.
CleanSlate Centers was founded to respond to this growing epidemic. The availability of quality treatment for those struggling with addiction is limited, and increasing access to comprehensive care is imperative for patient success.
